Tuapse is a town in Krasnodar Krai, Russia, on the northeast shore of the Black Sea. It is the center of Tuapsinsky District. Its population is 66,800 (as of 2002). Town status since 1916. Tuapse is a sea port and a centre of resort zone. Russian Children Center Orlyonok (former All-Russian SFSR Young Pioneer camp) is located there. The 2005 Miss Universe winner, Natalie Glebova, was born in Tuapse. Tuapse is a large centre for Shapsugh Adyghe speakers, with about 10,000 speakers of the language living in Tuapse.
