The administrative center of the Tambov region, Tambov city stands on the left bank of the Tsna River in the central part of European Russia. Tambov is situated 420 km (about 260 miles) south-east of Moscow. Presently the population of Tambov is 320 thousand people. The climate in Tambov ranges from rather warm in summer to moderately cold and snowy in winter.
