Magadan has 130,000 people, which is not considered big cause people
in Russia live very compact. It has everything that any civilized town
needs: museums, drama theater, restaurants, discobars, strip clubs, casinos,
very nice Russian Saunas and of course several festivals, when the whole
population is out all night drinking, dancing and doing other crazy things.
On summer time the day is never over- polar day, and it's the best time
for fun- you see people walking all night long.
Restaurants are very nice and neat, and yet not too expensive. In the
most popular one, Green Crocodile (they even have alive crocodile there,
but they don't sell it for dinner-we already asked) you might leave maximum
15-20$ for all the tastiest seafood you can eat and alcohol you can stand.
They treat you with luxurious meals like shrimps, crab, mollusks (Zuba,
for instance) all kinds of meat and of course hundreds of varieties of
salads, that Russian food is famous for.
The Drama theatre is famous for it's artists, first of them came to Magadan
as political convicts of Stalin regime and of course they were the best
in Russia back than. They raised very skilled and gifted drama and opera
artists to replace themselves.
city has all the necessary services to make you life convenient: it's
easy to get a taxi-just call it gets in 1-3 minutes and costs 1$ to any
part of town, and don't be afraid if you don't speak Russian, English
is enough, most people know enough to get you around.
Outdoor fun is widely represented in such kinds as: going out for a day
or two to catch crab, boat trips to the bird islands with their nestlings,
lot's of varieties of short fishing trips.
